AFURADA LIVING LAB

The Afurada Living Lab is a territory to experience and validate technological solutions and innovative services, where several actors collaborate to promote a low carbon economy and the sustainable development of the Afurada community.

Execution Period: 05/2021 to 04/2024 (on going)

Approved Budget: 1.08M€

Objectives:

This project aims to make from Afurada a living laboratory, that means a territory of innovation for the development of technological solutions applied in a real context, based on a collaborative model including experimentation and validation of the proposed solutions by the local community.

The solutions will be oriented towards various challenges, such as the decarbonisation of cities, sustainable urban mobility, energy efficiency of buildings and the transition to a circular economy.

The project involves the activities:

Promotion and (re)design of a sustainable urban mobility ecosystem in the territory, thus contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions.
Sustainable solutions for recycling and reintroducing waste into the value chain (Circular economy).
Production and storage of renewable energy in buildings, as well as the promotion of conscious consumption of energy resources.
Community involvement and governance model, execution and monitoring.

Results

Reduction of energy consumption, GHG emissions and CO2 emissions (in several sectors).
Behavioural change in the mobility area.
Definition of Local Strategy for Circular Economy.
Events for local community and citizens.
